Classic Shell to change the start menu

Classic Shell to change the start menu
Classic Shell is an application that allows to incorporate to Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 some characteristics of Windows XP that had been modified from the launching of Vista.

Surely many users have become accustomed to the Windows XP boot menu or navigation options presented by the browser bar in that operating system. These two elements are precisely those that can be changed by this program, to give a visual aspect similar to the one that had in the past, allowing to obtain a friendly interface and easy to use.

The classic start menu allows quick access to programs, documents, control panel, execution, search and help; With the advantage that it can be customized according to user preferences. Classic Shell is able to combine the previous menu with later built-in features, such as the possibility to regulate the level of transparency of the menu items. In Windows 8, the metro menu is disabled and the desktop is accessed directly.

It is possible to quickly return to the Windows 7/8 menu without the need to uninstall this application or access a configuration panel by simply holding the mouse cursor a couple of seconds above the start button (located to the left of the menu below ).

The other important change has to do with the browsing options of the Windows file explorer, as it reappears the button that was used to raise a level, in addition to the classic bar and the directory tree that is shown in the left sector of the explorer. Next to the navigation bar are the edit (copy, paste, delete, undo, redo, etc.) buttons that can be applied to files that are displayed for a particular folder.

The navigation bar displays the full path of a directory, unlike the current navigation system that may be more uncomfortable, especially when you want to access higher levels within the file system.

Finally, we highlight the changes that can be applied to Internet Explorer (9 and 10), which allow you to customize the title bar and browser status bar, for example, to display the bar that shows the progress of loading a page.

Classic Shell 4.1.0 is the latest version that can be downloaded for free to install on the post-XP operating systems, both 32-bit and 64-bit. It was updated in April 2014.
