SpaceX makes history (again) by launching a recycled rocket for the first time and making it come back safe and sound

SpaceX makes history (again) by launching a recycled rocket for the first time and making it come back safe and sound

Elon Musk continues to unlock achievements and proving that he is one of the most important minds of our times. Today has achieved a new milestone in the history of the space race, since for the first time SpaceX has used one of the reusable rockets, specifically one that was used in April of 2016.

This means that the next stage of their space travel plan has been a success, where we have already seen how they control the landing of their rockets when they return to Earth, landings that can be on land or on the barge over the sea, And now it's time to start using these same rockets in new missions.

The first rocket that has traveled twice in space
As I mentioned earlier, this Falcon 9 rocket was used on April 8, 2016, a rocket that was the first to land on the platform "Of Course I Still Love You". As we know, prior to this launch, in December 2015 SpaceX had first achieved a Falcon 9 rocket returning and landing on land, not at sea, but this rocket being the first to keep it as evidence of the historic milestone in the race space.

For this launch, the Falcon 9 used almost a year ago was revised in its structure and loaded with fuel, which cost approximately $ 250,000 , instead of the 16 million that represents the manufacture of a new rocket. This means abysmal savings that will benefit the shipment of rockets for new missions, as well as a drop in cost.

This Falcon 9 was sent to space with the objective of putting into orbit the SES-10 satellite, which is the first satellite of SES designed exclusively for Latin America and the first to be launched on a reusable rocket. After launching the satellite , Falcon 9 was positioned to land on the platform over the sea in the Atlantic Ocean, something that achieved without any problem and right on target ... for the second time.
