5 billion euros will be to blame that the Galaxy S9 mount processors of 7 nanometers

Solve current problems
One of the concerns of Samsung at the moment is to solve the problems of production that suffer in their lines of chips of 10 nanometers. The 10 nanometer chips are slow to produce and already cause delays, and cause compromises, in the leading lines of each catalog.

At present, both the Exynos 8895 and the Snapdragon 835 are produced with technology of 10 nanometers, all without leaving the lines of production of the own Samsung. If we take a look at the TSMC chains, there will be the future Helio X30 and who knows if also the Apple A11 that we hope to see this year aboard the iPhone 7s.

All of them, without exception, are suffering delays because of the difficulty of their production and the high safety standards established in the different chains. To solve this, Samsung has put on the table about 2,000 million euros, an investment in infrastructure for its factories, for a line 17, also called S3, which has been used for various purposes but now produces 10 nanometer processors.

With this investment, Samsung expects to be able to increase production of 10-nanometer chips by 18,000 units per day, and the increase in production will be almost immediate, as they expect to be in these figures in the second quarter. With this, Samsung would solve the problems of speed in production that has had until now, and could put more processors in circulation, both own and for other manufacturers.

And look to the near future
In the investment package that ETNews has unveiled there is also technology for the future. Specifically, a version that dwarfs the unveiled to reinforce the lines of 10 nanometers is the one that will be done to start up the process of construction of 7 nanometer chips. The future generation of chips from Samsung, and probably from Qualcomm, is already on the Korean roadmap.

Nearly 5 billion euros will be blamed for Samsung being able to produce chips with even smaller processors, and get it for next year. This will be achieved by investing in equipment to improve current impressions of silicon wafers with new printing technology through ultraviolet rays.

This technology is none other than extreme ultraviolet lithography, a new technique that hopes to reduce the size of transistors thanks to photosensitive chemicals. With a system very similar to the one used to photograph in the old days, Samsung hopes to be able to achieve its objective using light waves of few nanometers in length. Specifically, 7 nanometers.

So we already know what the processors market can bring us in 2018. A solid 10-nanometer chip production for, perhaps, hosting medium-range chips that continue to be produced at 14 nanometers, and models of 7 nanometers to be equipped in the catalog leaders. The Galaxy S9, LG G7 and company are waiting in 12 months, all with 7 nanometer brains. And in 2020, 3 nanometers .
