Stromer is the electric bike with the largest batteries, also the most expensive: 180 kilometers with a load

Stromer is the electric bike with the largest batteries, also the most expensive: 180 kilometers with a load

Does it make sense to spend about 10,000 euros on an electric bike? If we really can call this vehicle a bike, because despite having pedals, its batteries and power make it move like a motorcycle. It is called Stromer ST2 S, it is Swiss, and it exists in different models, all of them with very high prices.

I know it is an easy resource, but some describe this brand as the Tesla of the bikes and if you start to dig a little, we can say that they are right. Possibly the most expensive electric bike, but also one of the most autonomous is able to offer thanks to its size and battery technology, and that is where Stromer presumes that marks differences.

The top-of-the-range model, called ST2 S, carries a battery of 983Wh, near the kilowatt, which makes it run a little more than 180 kilometers, provided conditions permit. They are exaggerated figures for the type of routes that we are going to do with a bike, but there it is, ready to run the whole week without us remembering to load it.

The engine responds to the SYNO Drive name . It is compact and is integrated into the rear hub, with a power of 500 watts and a pair of 40Nm. With it you get to put the bike at 45 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds.

The next thing that we need to know is that he has a computer on board and is called Omni . The bike is a "connected" model, is the least we could ask a model of this price: the system communicates with our mobile phone and shows information relating to navigation or driving parameters, such as speed or miles performed. The bike carries its own GPS.

I'm not very happy that the painting is made of aluminum, it's not that I have anything against this material, but the price of the bike could well have gotten carbon. I suppose they will have thought of the resistance, more than in the weight - 30 kilos -. Another point to emphasize is the lighting integrated in the bike: Supernova M99 Pro, with 1,250 lumens.

As for the transmission of the same, we have an electronic system of Shimano, a Di2 XTR with 20 speeds. The brakes also look good for an electric bike, Magura MT5 disc drives are used.

The sum of all these things do not make us think that you reach the 9,000 euros that ask for it, but there it is, it sure has its audience. Cycling fans will love to know that Stromer is a brand of the BMC group .
