MWC 2017 - BlackBerry KeyOne: released in April at 599 € The return of a recipe that works?

MWC 2017 - BlackBerry KeyOne: released in April at 599 € The return of a recipe that works?

Presented to a restricted circle of journalists last January, the Blackberry KEYOne has just seen its technical features unveiled a few hours from the announcement conference to be held tonight in Barcelona. It is the GSM Arena site that obviously had the information upstream and drew an announcement paper a little too quickly. The article was quickly unpublished, but all the official information and photos can still be viewed via the Google cache.

Unlike DTEK 50 and 60, this KEYONE is not the simple clone of an Alcatel mobile, but a new product designed by the brand's buyer, TCL. As such, it proudly sports the complete physical keyboard that made the brand successful when its mobile products were still under Canadian flag. The rest of its technical characteristics make it a solid mid-range mobile, but without much originality. Above the keyboard, a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1620 x 1080px and a ratio of 3: 2. Behind the display is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip that animates the mobile, assisted in its task by an Adreno 506 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. The battery is peaking at 3505 mAh and is compatible with the Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 standard, which supposedly allows the mobile to regain 50% of battery in 36 minutes of charge.

Released in April for 599 €
On the photo side the KEYONE embeds a sensor Sony IMX378 of 12 Mpx on the back, the same one found recently on the Google Pixel. On the front is an 8MPx module that will be responsible for capturing self-portraits. Finally, there is a fingerprint reader in the space bar and a USB-C port on the bottom slice. And it is of course Android 7.0 with the BlackBerry sauce that takes place side OS.

The BlackBerry KEYOne will be marketed as of April for 599 euros. We will offer you a grip as soon as we cross it in the aisles of MWC Barcelona.
