Drones vs Eagles: The French army trains its predators to bring down drones, we see it in video

We continue with a new chapter of' Drones vs Eagles'. The Dutch started last year training the raptors, to practically finish 2016 with the learning done, now it's the turn of the French. The training officer is now the army of the neighboring country.

The intention is to be able to shoot down drones without the bird suffering any damage , and is that these flying contraptions are complicated to control by its ease of purchase and use. You never know with what intentions you can be flying one, so the security agencies of the countries have to have mechanisms to knock them down.

The French army has been working on different technological solutions, and as its Dutch neighbors have determined that the eagles are effective in these tasks, being able to visualize the dron from a pair of kilometers . It is considered as a solution in which we should not use weapons, which when we are in a populated area- or with a lot of air traffic- is not the most interesting.

Why eagles? They may well have chosen another bird that can train in these labors- hawks, kites- but it is necessary that they have more wingspan and strength to maneuver with the dron. They also have strong legs in case they had a mishap with the propellers.

The funny thing is that these raptors are training them from very young - now they are 8 to 9 months- from youngsters feed them on drones, to be identified as prey. They also learn to catch the dron by the most suitable area, moving away from the propellers, and carry a weight of up to 4 kilos.

The maximum size of these raptors is 2.20 meters, weighing 3 to 5 kilos and are capable of flying 80 kilometers in line, up to 180 km / h if they do a sting . Most importantly, they are very brave, and as a curiosity, the eagles respond to the name of Musketeers: D'Artagnan, Aramis, Athos and Porthos.
