Airlander 10, the world's largest airplane, will soon sail across the skies

Airlander 10, the world's largest airplane, will soon sail across the skies

A few months ago a giant aircraft that looked like a unique evolution of the old dirigibles promised to transform the traffic and air transport. The Airlander 10 is capable of carrying 10 tons, and its creators wanted to go even further with the Airlander 50, a version five times larger.

That project, however, had a major setback. One week after its first flight the Airlander 10 crashed in a later flight, something that conditioned its future viability. Those responsible for Airlander 10 say they have already detected and corrected the problem, and ensure that this huge aircraft is ready to fly again.

Ready to fly again
In a recent statement Hybrid Air Vehicles indicates that"all structural repairs are complete," and also emphasize that "they have fully understood" the causes of that accident that fortunately caused no serious or dead injuries.

The company, however, has not explained what caused the Airlander 10 crash that way, and after applying changes in "procedures and training" are prepared to "restart the test flight program soon."

These vehicles stand out not only for their size, but for the low noise and little pollution that they generate during their flights. Among its advantages is also the ability to land and take off over short distances and in complex locations (such as the desert or icy areas), and can be kept in flight for five days, although its maximum speed is only 150 km / H.
