Bluetooh 5 is faster and reach further than ever before, but the audio will not improve (for now)

Bluetooh 5 is faster and reach further than ever before, but the audio will not improve (for now)

In June we told you about the work the Bluetooth SIG had done to complete the new specification of this wireless standard, and we finally have our Bluetooth in May, although their arrival in the first products take between 2 and 6 months.

The new standard doubles the transfer rate (up to 50 Mbit / s) and range (up to 240 m), which is interesting in IoT, but it is also striking to expand the options of smart watches.

Prepared for the Internet of Things
However there will be no best audio compression , which would have been especially striking now that manufacturers seem determined to push on their mobile wireless headphones.

A curiosity: the standard fails to go "decimals" and renamed "Bluetooth 5" to dry, and not "Bluetooth 5.0", for example, something that those responsible have decided to do to make things easier for consumers and industry in the field of marketing.

Those responsible for the standard indicated how the main focus has been on the Internet promising of Things could benefit substantially from this type of transmission. In addition to speed and scope it has enhanced the ability of sending messages broadcast by multiplying eightfold.

The Bluetooth SIG expects that 1 in 3 wireless devices sold in 2020 to do so by integrating Bluetooth connectivity, but the advantages are not so far improved quality wireless audio, which however is expected to arrive in a review standard back in 2018.
